Alder is a great-sounding tonewood for
solidbody electrics, and it looks pretty cool too, as the natural-finish
Pacifica 112X readily demonstrates. A black scratchplate, pickups and
controls provide a neat visual contrast as well as highlighting the
body’s sleek contours, while a maple fingerboard is featured on the
112MX, for those who prefer the different feel and slightly brighter
tone.
Whichever, performance satisfaction is guaranteed, thanks to the
smoothly balanced vibrato bridge, and the gutsy bridge-position
humbucker and funkily voiced single coils which are controlled by a
five-position pickup selector for impressive sound versatility.
